2020 Paint Color Trends

Every year we look forward to the paint color trends announcements from all the major paint companies! For the last few years, we have seen a popularity in grays and varying shades of whites on the walls. This year, the industry is encouraging us to spice things up a little bit by taking our favorite design trends and adding those colors to accent the walls in our homes.

But where do I even start with adding color? There are so many options….

Well, we have done the hard work for you! We have sifted through the 2020 Colors of the Year from all the major paint companies and gave you a consolidated list to be on the look out for while you are designing your homes this year. Here is what we found:

Naval by Sherwin Williams

Embrace the revival of the Art Deco period of interior design. Naval will help create a calming space while adding depth to the neutral base of whites and grays that have been so popular for the last decade. Pair this color with a mix of metals such as gold and brass, along with neutral materials like marble. This will set a “roaring 20’s” vibe in your home that will make you feel like you stepped out of an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel.

Chinese Porcelain by PPG

To play on the traditional navy, PPG chose a color that adds a subtle pop but doesn’t fail to instill the calmness and comfort of a rich, dark blue. Chinese Porcelain is a blend of inky blue with cobalt, and pared with white trim and stained wood accents, you are sure to wow your guests.

Pinks:

Bombay Pink by Valspar

This isn’t your little girl’s room pink. Bombay Pink will make you feel like you are on a tropical vacation walking streets of multi-colored bungalows. In an office, paired with gold accents, this color will encourage productivity while creating a sense of relaxation.

Take the new decade by the horns by surrounding yourself with a color that will insure an optimistic mindset. Blush pinks have been growing in popularity since the term “millennial pink” became popular a few years ago. By adding a pale pop of pink, you can’t help but have an upbeat attitude in your home.

Earthy Greens:

Back to Nature by Behr

Last year, we saw a lot of dark and jewel toned greens on the market. This year Behr wants to encourage the outdoors to come into your space with Back to Nature. It’s a very grounding color of yellow-green, that will mimic the ongoing trend of indoor plants. Pair with dark neutrals to create a tranquil space, promote balance in your home, and allow you to take on the new decade with a clear mind.

Burnt Orange:

Rumba Orange by Behr

The comeback of the mid-century modern interior design trend paired with a relaxed bohemian style has brought back the burnt orange trend from a few decades back, and it’s here to stay for another year. Behr’s Rumba Orange is a bold color that can easily blend with wood tones and traditional or Moroccan patterns. You can also compliment navy and golds to give your space an eclectic and vibrant look.

What is your favorite color trend of 2020?
